I love and I mean love, decorating. There is nothing better to me than a room that makes me feel at peace. You know, those rooms that just make you feel comfortable the moment you step foot into them. It feels like you could grab a blanket, light the fireplace, and veg out on the couch all day!
In addition, to the decor another important piece of a room is how it smells. Yes, smells. You can change the entire feel of a room by the fragrance that is in it. How? Well, say you walk into a kitchen the first smell you get is rotting trash assaulting your nose. How would you feel about that kitchen? Is it dirty, gross and you would want to leave?
Now, say you walk into a kitchen and smell fresh baked cookies tickling your nose and making your stomach growl. How would you feel about that kitchen? Does the smell make you think of past memories and would want to stay and hang out? See how your thoughts about one room changes when the scent changes. Did you realize that scent was that powerful?
My partnership with Scentsy has been a way to combine my love for decor with the love of fragrance. Several years ago, I discovered Scentsy quite by accident. A friend gave me Scentsy for my birthday and I fell in love. Thing was though we were struggling financially, so buying additional bars was an extra that was not in the budget. I contacted a consultant and had a party. It was fun, easy and I was able to get a lot of FREE and half price Scentsy. The party was my ticket to getting Scentsy without hurting the budget.
However, my husband suggested that I sign up to be a consultant to get a discount and maybe earn a little extra money. As I said, we were struggling and Christmas was coming up, I was stressed that I would not be able to provide gifts for my kids. I had prayed and prayed for things to turn around.
So, I signed up and I took my testers and catalogs into work. What I found was that those that smelled the testers and looked at the catalog LOVED what they smelled and saw. I actually sold enough in my first month to recover the cost of the kit AND to pay for Christmas for my entire family!!!! I cried, literally, cried and thanked God that I was going to be able to provide Christmas, what a BLESSING! It was like a weight had been lifted off of me.
Being a business owner for 10 years has been such a growing experience for me. I have gone from running my business to provide much needed extra income for my family, to staying in the business for the relationships, for the joy I get in helping others reach their goals, and for the amazing feeling of belonging to something way bigger than me.
Now, I am not one for all rainbows and unicorns. So, reality is that over the last 10 years, I have struggled, cried, and even almost quit. BUT, I have also, laughed- a lot, grown as a person and a leader, and have a quiet self-confidence that was never there before.
